Hospital Continues to Consolidate Core Facilities
December 6, 2007 (King City, CA) – As Mee Memorial Hospital continues to work through its financial challenges, hospital administration announces the closing of its Urgent Care Center in King City. All employees working in the center have been transferred to other areas within the hospital’s organization.
“It’s no secret that the hospital continues to face difficulties. For the health of the entire organization, we need to consolidate our efforts so that our core services can be adequately supported and delivered to the community,” states Walt Beck, president and chief executive officer of Mee Health Systems and Mee Memorial Hospital, which is headquartered in King City. “Yesterday’s decision to close in Paso Robles allows Mee to focus on our capital and human resources right here in south Monterey County. And, yes, we do believe that we are on the right track to achieving the hospital’s over financial performance objectives.”
Mee’s Urgent Care Center has been serving the community since January 2006, and relocated to the Broadway facility earlier this year. Patients coming into the center were seen on a walk-in basis without appointments, and provided ambulatory medical treatment for non-emergency injuries and illnesses – as an alternative to more costly and sometimes inconvenient emergency room services.
Within this past year, Mee Memorial Hospital expanded to be a 123-bed, two-story, not-for-profit healthcare facility where patients receive highly personalized care by knowledgeable and professional staffs and physicians that use state-of-the-art medical technology. No other closings are anticipated in the near future.
“Our heart and soul are in King City, and we’re doing everything we can to make sure that our community continues to be proud of the hospital and its facilities,” adds Beck. “The community trusts us to deliver top quality healthcare and we’ll continue to do just that.”
Mee Memorial Hospital is a 123-bed, not-for-profit hospital and the anchor facility of Mee Health Systems, a network of healthcare centers, clinics and outreach programs throughout King City, Greenfield, Soledad in southern Monterey County. Mee Health Systems is committed to the wellness of the communities we serve, and providing access to comprehensive healthcare in a caring, professional and responsible environment.
