Benefits

The outstanding benefits package provided by Mee to our employees reflects their importance to our mission and values in providing excellence in patient care.  We place a high value on the dedicated employees who help us earn our excellent reputation, and we show our appreciation by providing very competitive wages and outstanding benefits package.

The health and life insurance options and other benefit plans offered are also reflective of continuing feedback received from employees about what is of most value to themselves and their families.  Benefits for new-hire employees are effective 90 days following the hire date on the next the first day of the month.

Insurance

Medical Insurance

Mee self-funds their medical insurance.  Keenan HealthCare is the claims administrator and Blue Cross of Southern California® is the statewide physician network provider, and includes 90/80/60 PPO plans with a $300/$500/$1,000 per calendar year deductible.   MultiPlan® is the preferred network outside of California.  Express Scripts® is the prescription drug plan used for all Mee employees.

Employee premiums are covered 100%.  Dependent coverage is available at a nominal monthly fee.  Employees using Mee provider physicians (whether it is a Mee hospital, urgent care or clinic) typically are at no cost (to the employee only) and there is no annual deductible applied.

Dental Insurance

Mee provides employees with dental coverage through the Delta® Premier dental plan.  Maximum coverage is $1,000 per enrollee per calendar year.  Employee premiums are covered 100%.  Dependent coverage is available at a nominal monthly fee. 

Vision Insurance

Mee provides vision care through Vision Service Plan (VSP).  Employee premiums are covered 100%.  Dependent coverage is available at a nominal monthly fee. 

Retirement Plan

Mee cares about your future.  After one year of employment, we are eligible for our 401(k) plan.

401(k)

After one year of employment, full- and part-time employees are eligible to participate in Mee’s 401(k) plan and can select up to 10 investment options from American Funds.  Mee contributes 2% of a participating employee’s income to the 401(k) plan, even if no contribution is made to employee’s own account.  If contributions made, Mee will match 50 cents on every dollar to a maximum of an additional 1.5%.  

403(b)

All employees are eligible to participate immediately in payroll deductions to a registered 403(b)/Tax Sheltered Annuity.  There is no matching or profit sharing distribution for this plan.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Mee combines vacation time, short-term sick leave, holiday leave and personal leave into one ‘bank’.  A full-time employee (with up to 3 years of service) earns 9 hours per pay period – which accumulates to 234 hours of leave per year under the PTO program.  Pro-rated PTO hours are earned by our regular part-time employees.  Both full-time and regular part-time employees begin to earn PTO hours immediately upon hire.

Extended Sick Leave (ESL)

Employees accrue extended sick leave at a rate of 91 hours per year and may draw upon ESL accounts for illnesses extending longer than 40 consecutively scheduled hours.

Education Assistance

After one year of employment, all full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to apply for education assistance.  The program uses Board-designated funds to reimburse employees for tuition, lost work time, mileage and expenses.
