Foundation

The Southern Monterey County Memorial Hospital Foundation, DBA Mee Memorial Hospital Foundation, was established in the early 1960s and became a 501(c)3 in 1969. Its purpose was and remains “the procurement and extension of financial aid toward the operation, maintenance and extension of the facilities of Southern Monterey County Memorial Hospital (DBA George L. Mee Memorial Hospital.)”
Governed by a Board of Directors who are citizens of the community and voluntarily give of their time, the Foundation has raised millions of dollars over the years to support Mee Memorial Hospital.
In addition the Foundation:
Some of the fundraising efforts include:
- “Walk with Mee” held in the summer, a 5-mile walk that benefits the Foundation in addition to promoting good health through exercise.
- Golf Tournament – Annual event that is a “fun-raiser” held at the King City Golf Course. A community dinner is held that evening.
- Memorials and solicited donations.
- Rededicated its Rose Garden with new plaques
- Maintains a donor board
- Maintains a veterans board
- Works collaboratively with the Hospital Service League and the hospital on many events and opportunities to promote Mee Memorial Hospital.
