Want to get a few miles in on a great walk for a great cause? Mee Memorial Hospital’s annual Walk with Mee is set for Saturday, Aug. 7. This fundraiser that benefits the hospital foundation, has become a tradition. It is the brainchild of Felipa Daniel, Mee employee who has organized the event every year, and this year is no different.

“Felipa has done a great job for the foundation getting signups and pledges every year,” said Ron Childers, foundation president. “This year we really would like to get more people from the community to participate. Bring your friends. Bring your co-workers. Bring your family.” Childers added that the money raised this year will go toward the purchase of the new digital mammography machine. ”

The walk is about five miles and begins and ends at San Lorenzo Park. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9. Walkers will receive a handsome backpack with water and a power bar when they register.

After the walk, participants will be treated to a hot dog barbecue and have time to relax and chat.
