More than 50 men, women and kids walked five miles Saturday in the Walk with Mee which is a Mee Memorial Hospital Foundation fundraiser in its sixth year. Walkers strode out of San Lorenzo Park and circled San Antonio Drive to Bitterwater Road and then headed back. “This was a great event,” said Ron Childers, foundation president. “We had hospital staff, management team members, board members and foundation board members, as well as lots of people from the community who support the hospital and enjoy a good walk.”

Leading the pack were walkers Patricia Serrano, Juan Serrano and Consuelo Serrano.

After the walk, participants enjoyed a hot dog barbecue at San Lorenzo Park and some time to visit.

Felipa Daniel, Mee employee, once again organized the event. Although no totals are available, Daniel said more people did the walk this year. All funds raised will go toward the new digital mammography machine for the hospital.
